NC Dental Society Foundation Endowment Expands Dental Care for Elderly and Disabled Citizens

The North Carolina Dental Society Foundation Endowment is helping a national dental program fulfill its mission of providing oral care to elderly, disabled and medically fragile citizens.

The North Carolina Dental Society Foundation Endowment is helping a national dental program fulfill its mission of providing oral care to elderly, disabled and medically fragile citizens. In collaboration with the NC Community Foundation, the NC Dental Society Foundation has awarding a $5,000 grant to Dental Lifeline Network, which provides complimentary treatment for eligible patients.

The critical need for access to care continues to rise as more and more people remain elderly, disabled or medically fragile and unable to afford dental care. Since its inception in 1985, Dental Lifeline Network and its flagship program, Donated Dental Services, has surpassed $378 million in donated dental therapies, transforming the lives of 120,550 people.

“Thanks to the long-time and generous support of the North Carolina Dental Society and its Foundation, Dental Lifeline Network will be able to bring life-changing and life-saving care to people with special needs who have no other way to get treatment,” said Fred Leviton, CEO of the Dental Lifeline Network.

Aligned with a similar mission of improving quality access to dental care, the NC Dental Society Foundation works to reduce barriers in oral health care for underserved populations across the state. The Foundation provides education, programs, and clinics for citizens unable to afford care, and funds local efforts to help those suffering from poor oral health. By partnering with the NC Community Foundation, it is able to make a bigger impact and deliver grants to help improve the quality of life of underserved citizens.
