The NC Dental Society Foundation is helping a local organization save smiles in Eastern North Carolina. Thursday, November 16, the Foundation represented a check for $25,000 to the Caring Community Dental Clinic to help the clinic provide dental care to people who can’t otherwise afford it in Onslow County.
“The Caring Community Clinic plays a critical role in helping people who otherwise could simply not afford dental care. Whether it’s helping patients in dental crisis, or providing preventive and restorative care, we applaud your efforts,” said Dr. Alec Parker, a member of the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
The Caring Community Dental Clinic’s mission is to increase access to oral health for uninsured and medically vulnerable persons in Onslow County. In the next year, the clinic hopes to complete 400 initial visits for extractions for patients in dental crisis and 200 follow-up visits for cleanings and filings.
In 2017, the North Carolina Dental Society consolidated its charitable efforts and established the NC Dental Society Foundation. The Foundation funds local efforts to help those suffering from poor oral health, and helps provide access to dental care for people in need.
