North Carolina Dental Health Fund

Is the North Carolina Dental Society’s strategic plan to directly address the oral health needs of the states under served. It is designed to accomplish this goal by conducting ongoing campaigns to fund its primary outreach program the North Carolina Missions of Mercy. The North Carolina Dental Health Fund is a non-profit 501(c) (3) corporation currently governed by the North Carolina Dental Society pending establishment of a separate board.

The Missions of Mercy portable free dental program is an outreach program of the North Carolina Dental Health Fund. Its mission is, "To provide free dental services to those in financial need with few or no other options." The goals of the program are:

To identify underserved areas of the State where there are not enough dental practitioners to adequately address the oral health needs of the community, as well as areas with high unemployment or poverty.
To provide free dental care to as many needy persons with incomes not exceeding 200% of the minimum poverty level within North Carolina as is possible.
To involve as much of the dental community of the State in the treatment of the needy as is possible through volunteerism and/or contributions.
