For many, the pain of dental disease is a fact of life.Across North Carolina, thousands suffer needlessly from painful and sometimes life-threatening dental disease. They are children. They are the elderly. They are the poor. They are the disabled. They live in our inner cities, in remote mountain hollows, in distant rural settings, in extended care facilities: places where there are often few dentists and irregular medical care of any kind.
Many of these people have learned to live with the unrelenting pain of tooth decay and other oral problems. Many cannot eat, or work, or do their schoolwork. Some succumb to terrible infections. A few die horribly because of them.
It doesn’t have to be this way. The North Carolina Dental Society has set about trying to help these people, for whom access to regular dental care has been almost impossible. The North Carolina Dental Health Endowment is intended to fund programs in our state solely targeted to these underserved populations. It is a huge task. And we need your help
About the NC Dental Health EndowmentThe NC Dental Health Endowment is a statewide fund that provides support to programs supporting and promoting oral health care in North Carolina. The Dental Health Endowment funds only clinics that are providing dental services to the needy.
