Dear Dental Consumer:

The North Carolina Dental Society has a system in place to help the public resolve unfortunate situations that arise with their dentists (must be a practicing North Carolina dentist). However, if your case is pending or has been ruled upon by the State Board of Dental Examiners, you will not be able to participate in Peer Review.

Attached is the necessary form that we must have prior to assisting you in this matter. Please complete the form and return it to me at the address above. Please DO NOT return the form by certified or registered mail - this only delays the process. Once we receive the completed form, a Peer Review dentist/mediator in your area will be assigned to your case and will contact you as soon as possible.

Please keep in mind that our program is made up of volunteer dentists who work full-time in their profession. A complaint typically takes six to eight weeks to reach a resolution. Also, peer review is not a forum to settle situations regarding discourteous behavior by a dentist or his/her staff, or issues regarding fees, insurance, or the business practices of a dentist. We can only help if your case involves improper dental care or faulty dental devices.
