The practice of dentistry
today requires a diversification of attention. The resources available to
members make those distractions you face every day seem small and allow
you to concentrate on your profession. The North Carolina Dental Society,
the American Dental Association and your District Dental Society provide
the support of tripartite membership: You are not alone. Membership also
provides an opportunity to volunteer, to combine your individual voice
with thousands of others that speak for the dental profession. For
information on joining the NC Dental Society, please contact Richard
Ducharme at rducharme@ncdental.org
or call 1-800-662-8754.

WASTE MANAGEMENT INFORMATION
Many communities throughout North Carolina are concerned about the purity
of water supplies and the decreasing availability of landfills. As
concerned citizens and professionals, we have the responsibility to
properly manage waste materials from our dental offices. NCDS has gathered
information about the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous
and infectious wastes in dental offices. A list of vendors and recyclers
for both X-ray wastes and amalgam wastes is included for your reference. A
dental waste management Fact Sheet from the NC Division of Pollution
Prevention and Environmental Assistance in the NC Department of
Environment, Health and Natural Resources (DEHNR) is also included.
NEW MEMBER DISCOUNTS
North Carolina Dental Society and the American Dental Association grant
discounts on membership for the early years of membership. Ranging from
100% to 25% for the first four years and including complimentary memberships for
joining the year of graduation, we hope to make the cost of membership
more attractive during the time the new dentist is working to establish
the practice.
