For many, the pain of
dental disease is a fact of life.
Across
North Carolina, thousands suffer needlessly from painful and sometimes
life-threatening dental disease. They are children. They are the elderly.
They are the poor. They are the disabled. They live in our inner cities,
in remote mountain hollows, in distant rural settings, in extended care
facilities: places where there are often few dentists and irregular
medical care of any kind.
Many of these people have learned to live with the unrelenting pain of
tooth decay and other oral problems. Many cannot eat, or work, or do their
schoolwork. Some succumb to terrible infections. A few die horribly
because of them.
It doesn’t have to be this way. The North Carolina Dental Society has set about trying to help these people, for whom access to regular dental care has been almost impossible. The North Carolina Dental Health Endowment is intended to fund programs in our state solely targeted to these underserved populations. It is a huge task. And we need your help.
About the NC
Dental Health Endowment
In the face of a growing shortage of dental care resources in North Carolina, the NC Dental Society is determined to help. Under the auspices of the North Carolina Community Foundation, the NC Dental Health Endowment has three goals:
Address the oral health
needs of the state’s underserved.
Conduct ongoing
campaigns to fund the endowment.
Apply endowment funds to
support oral health programs for those with limited access to regular
dental care.
This is a
new initiative and one that is critically needed to stop needless
suffering.
Not only will endowment funds be used to support dental
outreach efforts, they’ll
also help set up regional dental care programs
throughout North Carolina.
The NC
Dental Health Endowment depends on people like you to help. Please

make checks payable to the NC Community Foundation - NC Dental Health
Endowment. The endowment
accepts tax-deductible gifts of cash, appreciated securities, real estate,
testamentary or will, or life insurance. Your gift can help not only ease
the pain and suffering of many in our state, but also make it possible for
them to lead productive, healthy lives again.
