The North Carolina Dental Society Celebrates 151st Annual Session May 17-20, 2007 Embassy Suites at Kingston Plantation Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Dentistry – A Family Affair
Registration
The pre-registration deadline is April 15, 2007. All registrations must be received, faxed or made on-line at www.ncdental.org prior to this deadline to receive pre-registration rates. No exceptions will be made. Registration received after April 15, 2007 will be processed with on-site registration fees. On-line registration is available at www.ncdental.org to NCDS members and their dental team. On the home page, look for the area that will automatically connect you to the registration page.
All dental team members, guests and spouses must register on the dentist’s registration form. There is a $30 fee for each guest (each dentist may register a spouse and children under the age of 12 at no charge). All persons attending must be listed on the registration in order to have name badges printed. If spouses are both dentists they must register separately. Please list the name of each registrant under Special Events to ensure that the correct event tickets are mailed to each participant.
Note: Name Badges, badge holders, lanyards and tickets will be mailed to you beginning the week of March 19, 2007. If you do not receive your registration information by April 2, please call Custom Registration at 877/205-1943 for a one-time complimentary reprint of your badge that will be available for pick-up at the NCDS Annual Session. After that, you will be charged a fee of $25 if a badge reprint is requested. On-site registration is available; however, the fees will be significantly higher. Registration hours are: Thursday, May 17: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Friday, May 18: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Saturday, May 19: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon Plan to redeem your tote and gift tickets at the NCDS Registration Desk during the above hours. These tickets are distributed to all registered dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, office staff and dental laboratory technicians. Do not misplace these two tickets as they can not be replaced.
Continuing Education courses (except for CPR certification-$45) are included in the registration fee. Cancellations/Refunds Registration
Refunds will be made, less a $30 administrative charge, upon receipt of a written request to cancel. Please send your request to NCDS, Attn: Prissy Allen, PO Box 4099, Cary, NC 27519, Fax: 919/677-1397. Requests must be received by April 15, 2007. Refunds will not be issued after April 15 except in cases of medical emergency.
Sporting Events
In the event of inclement weather, refunds will not be made but alternative activities will be arranged.
Name Badges
Name badges should be worn at all times during the meeting and will be required to enter all NCDS sponsored events including the Exhibit Hall. Your name badges, badge holders, lanyards and tickets to all registered events WILL be mailed to you the week of March 19th. You will be charged a fee of $25 if a badge reprint is requested. Be sure and bring this material with you to Myrtle Beach.
If you do not receive your badge by April 2, 2007, please contact Custom Registration at 877/205-1943 (toll-free) for a one time complimentary reprint of your badge that will be available for pick-up at the Annual Session.
Attire
Attire for all functions at the Annual Session is casual except for the House of Delegates which is business attire.

The North Carolina Dental Society is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider. The NC Academy of General Dentistry will be available in the registration area to issue continuing education credits for dentists who attend the scientific sessions. Speakers whose courses do NOT meet the criteria for NC State Board of Dental Examiner credit are indicated by an asterisk (*) in the Course Descriptions and Schedule of Events. The amount of continuing education credit you will receive equals the length of the program, i.e. 9:00 a.m. – Noon = 3 hours CE credit. Monitors will distribute Verification of Attendance forms at the completion of each morning and afternoon continuing education session. Verification of Attendance forms will not be available at the NCDS Registration Desk or at any other time. It is the responsibility of each attendee to pick up the forms from the Monitor immediately following each morning and afternoon CE Session.

NCDS Awards Luncheon (11:30 a.m.) Remember to pre-register for this special event when we honor the NCDS award recipients. This luncheon is held prior to the First General Session – a highlight of this 151st Annual Session.
NCDS House of Delegates NCDS members are invited to attend the House of Delegates on Thursday, May 17 from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 19 from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. NCDS delegates will consider and vote on numerous resolutions.
ADA Town Meeting Join the ADA 16th District Trustee and other representatives for the ADA Town Meeting on Thursday, May 17, 3:30 – 5:00 p.m.
President’s Opening Reception (6:00 – 8:00 p.m.) After a day full of continuing education, bring your family and attend the President’s Opening Reception to be held in the Kensington Ballroom when the NCDS Exhibit Hall opens. Visit the exhibitors in a relaxed festive atmosphere and enjoy food and drinks. You will have the opportunity to view new products and services from dental companies. Attire is casual and there is no charge to attend. Children, of all ages, will be entertained by a balloon artist as you visit the exhibitors. There will be games and prizes for the adults also! Mark your calendar with this special event and join in the fun.

Ice Cream Social All registered attendees are invited to the Exhibit Hall on Friday from 12 noon – 1:00 p.m. for an Ice Cream Social. Attire is casual and there is no charge to attend. Enjoy a “treat” while you visit the exhibitors.
Golf Tournament Enjoy a round of golf with your colleagues or spouses during the NCDS Golf Tournament on Friday, May 18th at the Barefoot Resort and Golf. Tee times will begin shortly after noon. Pre-registration is required. The $165 fee includes a box lunch, beverages and prizes. Begin putting together your foursomes now or let the Golf Chairs do that for you. After you register, you will be contacted for your handicap or preferred team pairings.
Shag Lessons The best of the NCDS shagging members (and ladies) will be on hand to “teach” and entertain you in preparation for the Beach Party from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at this “free” event. Dr. A.C. Williams and wife, Cathy of Dunn has achieved “Professional” status in organized competitive shag dancing and are shag dance instructors for the Fayetteville Area Shag Association. Dr. Frank Brantley, a Professor of Dentistry at UNC-CH, is a former competitive shag dancer where he also achieved “Professional” status and was inducted into the National Living Legends of Dance. His partner, Tonya Maxwell, has completed successfully in several dance competitions and has held a leadership position in the Winston-Salem Shag Club. Come join them – to practice or to learn! You’ll be glad that you did. Pre-registration is NOT required.
Family Festival The 7th Annual NCDS Family Festival is undergoing changes. Bring your “kids” and meet “Dr. Juggles” also known as Bradley Harrelson who holds a Masters of Divinity degree. Bradley will receive his dental degree in May 2007 from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Dr. Juggles’ PURPOSE is to bring joy to hearts through the cheerful look of juggling, comedy and entertainment and health to body and soul through good news on how you can keep your mouth clean and your life clean. Dr. Juggles’ MISSION is to make learning about personal health (physical and spiritual) enjoyable. The NCDS Family Festival is free to all registered attendees; however, pre-registration is required for dinner - $10 for children age 4-10 (children age 3 and under are free) and $20 for adults.
Beach Party You don’t want to miss this NCDS Annual Session tradition! All attendees are invited to party to the sounds of the fantastic Wallers who have returned by popular request. The Beach Party is free to all registered guests and pre-registration is not required. Refreshments will be provided. Enjoy your dinner at one of the fine restaurants on the Crystal Coast of Myrtle Beach and return for this party from 8:00 p.m. to Midnight in the Palmettos Pavilion at the Kingston Plantation (next to the pool).

Tennis Tournament The NCDS Tennis Tournament will be held at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, May19 at the Kingston Plantation Sports Center. The $45 fee includes refreshments, tee-shirts and prizes. Pre-registration required.
5K Fun Run/Walk This special sporting event begins at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 19. Participants will enjoy a walk or run on the beach in front of the Kingston Plantation. The event is fun for all ages so sign up for your entire family and/or office staff! Refreshments, tee-shirts and prizes are included in the $25 registration fee. Pre-registration required.
Legislative/NCDPAC Luncheon Would you like to learn more about North Carolina politics and the NC General Assembly? On Saturday, May 19, Mr. John Davis, Executive Director of the NCFREE and NC political expert, returns for this luncheon by popular demand. Mr. Davis will give us insight on the political landscape in North Carolina with a touch of political humor. The registration fee is $25 and pre-registration is required. Gold level and above NCDPAC members are free.

Wine Tasting Reception A special event has been planned on Saturday to honor retiring NCDS Executive Director Faye Marley during the 151st Annual Session immediately following the House of Delegates and Saturday’s clinical sessions. Join us at 5:00 p.m. and greet Faye who is retiring at the end of 2007 after 38 years of service to this distinguished group. Be sure and make your dinner reservations at one of the many fine local restaurants with a group of your friends at the conclusion of this special event. What a fine way to close the 151st NCDS Annual Session which celebrates “Dentistry – A Family Affair”.
